Of course, the type, quality, and thickness of the coating are key factors in the length of coating consumption time. Our color coated steel plates mainly use galvanized, aluminum zinc, galvanized aluminum magnesium and other coated steel plates from large domestic steel plants, which have higher strength and better corrosion resistance.
Let’s talk about the pre-treatment layer again. This is a crucial part of the anti-corrosion of color steel plates, which is often overlooked. The pre-treatment layer, also known as the passivation layer, requires the use of passivation solutions such as phosphate or chromate to passivate the substrate surface before color coating. This not only increases the adhesion of the coating, but also plays a role in corrosion resistance. Research has shown that in the neutral salt spray resistance experiment of galvanized color coated plates, the contribution rate of the pre-treatment layer quality reaches over 60%.
Let’s talk about the primer again. On the one hand, the primer plays a role in increasing the adhesion of the coating. After the paint film is permeable, it will not detach from the coating, preventing blistering and detachment of the coating. On the other hand, due to the presence of slow-release pigments such as chromates in the primer, it can passivate the anode and improve the corrosion resistance of the coating.
Finally, let’s talk about topcoat. In addition to aesthetics, topcoat mainly serves to block sunlight and prevent UV damage to the coating. After the topcoat reaches a certain thickness, it can reduce the generation of micropores, thereby shielding the penetration of corrosive media, reducing the water and oxygen permeability of the coating, and preventing coating corrosion. The UV resistance and density of different coatings vary, and for the same type of coating, the thickness of the paint film is a key factor affecting corrosion.
